My Class Ring

We ordered my class ring on January 31, and were told it would take two to three months to receive it. So, when I signed for a small package from the mail carrier today, I thought it was the battery I had ordered for Tim’s G1. It turned out to be my class ring! What a wonderful surprise, and just in time for my birthday!

The photo doesn’t do the ring justice. It is beautiful!

Thank you, Tim, for such a wonderful and meaningful gift! It’s all the more special because it came from you!

Three good professors out of five isn’t too bad, right? And, really, the two not-so-great ones aren’t that bad; I’ve had much worse!

The professor for my online psychology class won’t respond to emails. Which is frustrating. On two different quizzes, I am 99.9% certain that one question on each were incorrectly marked  wrong. If those quizzes were fixed, I would have 100% on both of them (I have 100s on the other four quizzes), so this is important to me. I emailed him, asking for clarification. No response. I did mention this is an online class, right?

The second professor at the bottom of my list is mostly just really boring. She seems very young (but, at my ripe old age of “29″ [ahem], a lot of people do), and probably hasn’t quite found her groove yet. Most classes consist of copying LOTS of notes from her LONG PowerPoint slides. So far, she has been beating us over the head lecturing almost exclusively on using APA formatting in our writing. It feels more like an English class than a psychology class. I will survive. As I said, I’ve dealt with much worse.

Fortunately, I do have three professors who are interesting and helpful, and they definitely help to balance any negative effects of the others.

Tim and Stacey Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine’s Day, Tim! Yesterday, today, always… I love you!

As of 3 p.m. today, Nemo has turned our backyard into a lake. It will probably only get worse from here. Last I checked, the rain will continue for a while longer before turning to snow. The weather forecast is calling for between four and ten inches of the white stuff. Glad that I was able to do the grocery shopping, and that Tim, BlackJack and I are hunkered down to ride out whatever comes our way. (Please, no more flooding!)

What’s it like where you are?

Dean’s List

I received a letter today that I’m quite excited about. I made the Dean’s List for the Fall 2012 semester, with an overall grade point average of 3.75! I don’t like to brag, that’s just not me, and I hope this post doesn’t sound as though I am.

In case you are new here, I was a horrible student from junior high through high school. I think it began with my fifth grade teacher who was a bitch, and yelled at me after I’d worked up the courage to ask her for help. I pretty much shut down after that. To this day, I have great difficulty in asking for help. I also stopped putting any more effort into school work than was absolutely necessary.

Since beginning college (back in 2008), I have worked hard to change my attitude, and I work hard. I push myself hard. I keep working even when I feel like giving up. And I found out that I’m not stupid (like my fifth grade teacher made me feel)! I am reasonably intelligent, and I am capable of earning good grades! Who knew??!!

I also have to give Tim credit for: (1) believing in me enough to convince me to take a chance on college; (2) for nudging me when I second-guess myself; (3) for being the best tutor I could hope for; (4) not complaining when I fall behind on the laundry or cleaning (and even pitching in from time-to-time). I also have many wonderful family members and friends who cheer me on and encourage me, and I feel truly blessed to have a whole team behind me who wants to see me succeed, and who believe in me even when I don’t believe in myself. You know who you are, and you have my eternal gratitude and love!

Letter informing me that I made the Dean's List at Kean University for the Fall 2012 semester.

My high school teachers would probably not believe this!
