I don’t think I’ve mentioned it here on Real World Mom before, but, I was in a car accident on April 16 of this year. As I was slowing to stop at a red light, the person in the car behind me never seemed to even slow down, and plowed into the back of our car. Not once. Not twice. But, at least three times! It happened so quickly, I didn’t even know what was going on until she finally stopped running into me. Here’s what happened to our poor car:

Rear-end of Toyota smashed in.

Besides fear, the first sensation I remember feeling is the pain in my neck. Within a couple of hours, my whole back also began to hurt. Pain-wise, it’s been a miserable 42 days. A week and a half ago, I began receiving massage therapy and chiropractic care. Below is the ‘fun’ table I got to try out today. It’s purpose is to stretch my neck, and help to get some fluid moving back in between the vertebrae. All-in-all, it wasn’t too bad. The right side of my neck started to hurt from the grip of the machine, and it really hurt my lower back lying there as long as I did. The ‘neck stretching’ feels better (good even) when Dr. J. does it manually.

On April 25, InkedMatch.com attended NY Tech Day 2013, at Pier 92 in New York City. With over 400 start-up companies present, and nearly 11,000 attendees, Tim and I had the opportunity to meet so many friendly and helpful people, and we received a lot of positive feedback and advice. We were very pleasantly surprised to learn that many of the folks we met had already heard of us! It was a long and exhausting day, but we had an awesome time! Here are some photos from our adventure…

Tim and I are working on a new website: InkedMatch.com, which will be launching soon!

The concept of InkedMatch.com:

“The hottest place to find a tattooed date, models, and artists. Check out designs and show off your latest body art. Locate the best artists in your area.”

InkedMatch.com has been invited to exhibit at NY Tech Day, April 25, 2013. You can see details of the show at http://nytechday.com and see our listing at https://nytechday.com/exhibitors/inkedmatch-com.  This is an extremely important opportunity!  We will meet investors and all the major tech press.

To help cover the expenses for InkedMatch.com’s trip to New York City (in addition to advertising, materials needed for the event, etc.), we have started a fundraising campaign on Indiegogo, which you can see here:

Tim and I would be eternally grateful if you could like and/or share our campaign link, and, of course, if you are able to contribute (we are offering some pretty cool perks for contributions!).

Spring 2013 Semester

Studying with flash cards.

The spring 2013 semester begins tomorrow!

I’ve got the usual excitement and anticipation that precedes a new semester, along with a little nervousness. I’m looking forward to meeting my professors, seeing friends, learning new concepts, and facing the challenges that surely lie ahead.

I am registered for five classes, which is one more than I’m really comfortable with. However, I need the credits, so I will just have to make the best of it. I will most likely also take at least one summer class, to make sure I have enough credits to graduate next year.

Four are psychology courses: Tests and Measurements, Professional Psychology: Principles, Understanding Self and Others, and Lifespan Developmental Psychology. The fifth is a sociology course: Introduction to Social Justice. Should be an interesting semester!

I had really hoped to tackle a lot of projects over the winter break, but, since I have been sick with a cold that just won’t go away for most of it, I’m afraid that a lot of them will just have to wait. Thank goodness Tim is so supportive and understanding, and insists that my studies be put first! At least I won’t feel too guilty about not having gotten around to reorganizing those closets!

My First Semester at Kean University

My first semester at Kean University was challenging at times. Then again, if it wasn’t, I wouldn’t need to be there, right? :)

As usual, I worked hard, studied hard, and put a lot of effort into each assignment. I am proud to say that it paid off, and my first semester was a success!

I can live with this.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to Tim for continuing to be so supportive, encouraging, and understanding as I work toward my goal of earning a bachelor’s degree. Somehow, he manages to put up with all the hours I spend studying, the stressing over exams and grades, and the late dinners. When I stop to think about it, I still can’t believe that I’m actually a junior in college. If it weren’t for Tim believing I could do it, and gently nudging me to give it a try, I probably never would have gone to college at all. I could have missed out on so much!

The spring semester starts in one week, and I’ll be ready!
