Summer is my absolute favorite season. Here are some of the reasons why I love summer so much:
- Laying in the sun totally relaxes me
- The sound of seagulls
- Going to the beach (although I like that any time of year)
- Seeing (and smelling) all the beautiful flowers
- I’m able to wear shorts, go barefoot, or wear sandals
- It’s butterfly season
- Barbecues
- Sandy beaches
- The boardwalk
- Gardening
- Green leaves on the trees
- I can spend time outside
- My semi-tan

i love summer breezes, not freezing my arse off, more time with the kids. we just went to beach/boardwalk and that was fun. haven’t really done it in a long time because i don’t live near a beach. i also lived in vegas 21 yrs! LOL but back in the day, when i lived in san diego (pacific beach), summers were lived on the beach.

I confess, I am a winter girl…but summer does have some great parts…like fresh local strawberries and blueberries, the smell of cut hay, and long days where I don’t have to go anywhere if I don’t want to!

For the first few weeks I love that my oldest is out of school, because that makes the morning not so hectic, but than he starts to complain about being bored and I quickly long for Fall!! LOL!
I love being with the family and the huge fair that comes to town.
Lazy days!!

I love the fact that I don’t have to bundle the kids all up to go outside! The smell of fresh cut grass is the best!

the sunkissed look my children get. Their hair gets lighter and the older two brown up like a beautiful doll. The exuberance of a new experience and the way they revel in it.

My favorite thing about summer is that I’m not working!! That, and having the time to exercise and to blog!

I love the smell of the flowers on our momosa tree. Watching the humming birds and butterflies. Swinging on the porch with my family. Going barefoot and also wearing sandals outside. Enjoy the green grass, shrubs, flowers and leaves on the trees. Trips to the park & having a picnic there with the whole family. Watching my kids play outside & having fun. The beauty of nature, watching the cats and dog have fun outside. Going to summer picnics & watching the kids ride on the rides. Taking walks and enjoying the fresh air outside. Eating ice cream and just thankful to be alive each day of the year.

Fresh cut grass.
Fire works.
Sheets dried on the clothesline
Waking up to the sound of birds.
Sleeping with the windows open.
Family vacations. The car trips. Really. The fighting, the whining, the captivity where we are all forced to be in one place without distraction. On straight stretches I even read outloud.
Fruit
Tomatoes
Salad

@ender: Great list, but no skateboarding for you for a while! *wink*
@John B: Ooh, I forgot the pool and daylight savings time!
@trysh: I take it you like the beach? *grin* Come visit Tim and I, we’ll take you to the beach!
@ciara: Ah, yes, not freezing our butts off! Unless, of course, you are in my house, where Tim keeps the a/c down in the 60’s! LOL!
@Dapoppins: Mm, fresh fruit! I love the laid-back schedule too!
@Tena: Yes, I remember those days of, “Mommy, I’m boorrreddddd!” Hang in there!
@Tammy: How could I forget the smell of fresh cut grass?! It always reminds me of my grandparents’ house when I was little… Good one!
@jojo: Great response! Two of my kids darken up instantly as well. (They must have more Italian blood in them than my other two!)
@Half-Past Kissin’ Time: Amen, Sister!
@Robin: Thank you so much for sharing the things you like about summer! Wonderful!
@Kelly Klepfer: I miss having a clothesline for just that reason! Great list!

Great list. Being so close to the beach I agree with every one… except… I hate seagulls!
When I was a kid, it was fireflies. We don’t have them in Florida, but I still remember going out in the evenings and catching them in a jar.
