heartHappy Valentine’s Day!heart

To my kids, D, M, S & B~ You guys have amazed me from the day each of you were born, and you continue to do so to this day. I am very proud of all four of you for being the intelligent, caring individuals that you are. I’m very lucky to be your mom, and I love you very much!

To T~ On our second Valentine’s Day together, I can honestly say that I love you more now than ever before. You’re the best ’significant other’ and tech support a girl could ever hope for, and I am beyond blessed to have you in my life!

To my blogging friends~ Thank you for all the support, kindness and friendship that you’ve shown me. By reading your blogs and exchanging comments and emails, I feel like I’m getting to know a lot of you, and it’s like I’ve got an extended family out there in the blogosphere!

However you feel about Valentine’s Day, I hope that each of you gets to enjoy the day as you see fit, and I wish that for you everyday.

Happy Valentine’s Day/February 14th!

Yay For Yahoo!

Yahoo has turned down Microsoft’s $44.6 billion bid to further screw up take the company over. (“Yahoo Formally Rejects Microsoft Offer”.)

Even though the maker of “Windoze” will probably eventually win this war, it’s so nice to see someone tell them “No.”!

Anti MS

Can you tell I’m not a huge fan of Microsoft? Good! ;-)
As you may already know, I live with T, who is a Computer Tech God, and he converted me to Linux some time ago.

So far, Ubuntu is my favorite distribution, and the one I’m currently using is Ubuntu 7.10/Gutsy Gibbon. It’s extremely user-friendly, and, unlike “Winblows”, very customizable–which I really like!

If you’d like to see more on Linux vs. “The Evil Empire”, be sure to visit T’s website: The Inflatable Soapbox™.

Misty Dawn at My Dogs Keep Me Sane posted this meme but left it open for anyone to do (rather than tagging them), and I’m going to do the same on this one. So, feel free to have at it if ya want!

The Rules:

  1. Link to the person that tagged you.
  2. Post the rules on your blog.
  3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
  4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
  5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website
  6. Let your tagger know when you entry is up

My Six Non-Important/Habits/Quirks:

  1. Like Misty, I must be at least partially covered when I go to sleep, no matter what the weather is like.
  2. Before I leave the house or go to bed, I always check to make sure the doors are locked and the range is off (sometimes more than once–can we say “O.C.D.”?)
  3. I absolutely love Wawa’s Original Cappuccino, and I try to get one every day. However, my first does of caffeine in the morning must be just a regular cup o’ joe.
  4. If above mentioned first cup of coffee is not exactly the way I like it, I can become cranky.
  5. I prefer writing in black ink (when I actually write and not type!).
  6. I really hate being late. I think it’s because I don’t like to feel rushed, and if I’m running behind schedule, I’m forced to rush.

This means a lot to me, Misty, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

“Beer Gets Seatbelt, Child Doesn’t” (Yahoo News)

Just when you think you’ve heard it all…

A woman in St. Augustine, FL was pulled over after going through a red light. Inside the car, police found the driver, a 16-month-old child, the child’s mother, and a 24-pack of beer. The beer was wearing it’s seatbelt–the child was not. Someone’s priorities are extremely f’d up!

This incident reminds me of the time I was driving behind a car with a pro-life bumper sticker, while a young child in the car was bopping around, obviously not seat-belted! I’ve yet to make any sense of that!

Colin from Life tagged me a few days ago with this. Here’s another fun meme!

Anger is only one letter short of danger

If someone betrays you once, it is his fault;

If he betrays you twice, it is your fault.

Great minds discuss ideas;

Average minds discuss events;

Small minds discuss people.

He, who loses money, loses much;

He, who loses a friend, loses much more;

He, who loses faith, loses all.

Beautiful young people are accidents of nature,

But beautiful old people are works of art.

Learn from the mistakes of others

You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself.

Friends, you and me…

You brought another friend…

And then there were 3…

We started our group…

Our circle of friends…

And like that circle…

There is no beginning or end…

Yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is mystery.

Today is a gift.

So now, let’s see how many circle’s of friends we can make by simply adding your link on this Friendship Meme!

RWM Award

Since joining the blogosphere several weeks ago, I have been blessed with the gift of meeting many wonderful people. Most are men and women who have been blogging for quite some time, and are very talented at what they do! Yet, they made room for another new kid on the block (me), and welcomed me with their support and friendship.I wanted a way to show my appreciation to those that have touched me in some way–whether it be a particular post, a whole blog, or the person behind the blog. So, I have come up with the Real World Mom “You Light Up My Life Award”, in honor of those special people.The first recipient is Maria, from Immoral Matriarch: Catechizer for her frequent support on my blog, her honesty and courage to tell it like it is and for her wicked sense of humor! I offer you this humble token, Maria, because you have made a difference to me, and I thank you!

Updated Big Bang List

February 8th, 2008
Posted in Blogging, Friends, Fun | 1 Comment »

This is a very cool idea from Mel at Monday Morning Power. I originally posted this here, and now I’m updating because the list has g-r-o-w-n!

*Start Copy Here*

You do not have to be tagged to play along. This game is simple and so are the rules.

1. Copy from *Start Copy Here* through *End Copy*
2. Add your site(s) to the list. Just be sure to post at each site you add.
3. Tag or don’t tag, your choice, however, the more tags you create the bigger the list will grow.
4. Let me know your blog’s name and url by leaving me a comment HERE. I will add you to the master list. (If you would like a scroll box code, leave me your email address and I will email it to you.)
5. Come back and copy the master list back to your site often. This process will allow late-comers to get as much link benefit as the first ones in. Once you are on the master list people who have participated earlier will update their bookmarks and help everyone lower than them out on the list.

Note: In order to be included on this master list you need to first post the “Big Bang” on the site(s) that you want included. Add your site at the end of the list. Then leave me a comment that you have done so.

Also, I encourage everyone who is on this list to double check the link and make sure it correctly points back to your site. If there are any issues please let me know and I will immediately make the correction.

*End Copy Here*

(Don’t forget to include the links in the scroll box below!)

Mom Gets Ticket

February 7th, 2008

This is one of those cases where you wonder what the officer was thinking! (My guess: he isn’t a parent!)

A 23-year-old mother was driving along when her 3-year-old daughter began vomiting. She made a u-turn (illegally) so she could pull over and take care of her child. The Hillsborough County deputy gave her a $123 ticket for doing so!

Yes, we have laws for a reason. But a puking kid in the back seat might just be good enough cause to overlook a minor infraction such as a u-turn, don’t ya think?

Here’s the full AP story: “Woman With Vomiting Daughter Gets Ticket

Is it a little obvious this is the first time I’ve been tagged for a meme? LOL!

Cotojo from “Life” at grottynosh (please stop by and show her some blog love!) tagged me on the Love and Hate meme. It entails making a short list of things you love and things you hate. (This should be easy!)

Things I Love:

  1. My kids
  2. Snuggling with T
  3. My friends
  4. My computer!
  5. Coffee!

Things I Hate:

  1. Dishonesty
  2. Waiting
  3. Not having a car
  4. Cold coffee
  5. Feeling lonely

I’m tagging: Huckdoll, Tim, Melinda, Kim and Maria. You don’t have to participate, but it would be fun to see everyone’s lists!
